Provost warns against using students for election violence

Provost of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Prof. Olukoya Ogen, has warned politicians against using students as thugs during the general elections. Ogen gave
the warning, even as his college matriculated 7,385 students for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic sessions. He told journalists at the ceremony that Adeyemi College of Education had structured its calendar in order to ensure that academic activities were brought to a close before the elections. “Since I resumed duties here, I met a crop of students that are highly responsible, and we have been able to maintain peace here. “Fortunately for us, the exams would be over and the students would not be on campus during the elections. They would be at home. “I can assure you that no student of Adeyemi College of Education will,be used to foment trouble during the elections,” he said. He said that 3,985 degree students were admitted for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic sessions, while 3,400 NEC students were also granted admissions for the 2014/2014 and 2014/2015 sessions. Ogen charged the newly admitted students to concentrate on their primary assignment, by shunning any social vices that might negatively affect their future. He noted that one of the very pressing goals of the college was to be upgraded to the status of a University, saying that the college’s contributions in terms of initiatives, academic performance and achievements would go a long way in helping to facilitate the process of upgrading. “Be assured that Management is working assiduously towards making this college internationally relevant through infrastructural and personnel development and through the introduction of modern ideas in line with world best practices.
